Goregaon runs long and thin along the Western Express Highway, and its two halves have completely different reasons for calling us. Goregaon East is the side people mean most of the time — Oberoi Mall on the highway, the Nesco grounds and Bombay Exhibition Centre a little south of it, the office towers behind them, and then the road climbing north past Aarey Colony to Film City at the very top. Goregaon West is quieter and older: SV Road, Motilal Nagar, Siddharth Nagar and Bangur Nagar, with Link Road on the far side heading up towards Malad. The station sits between the two, and the metro line along the highway has made the east side far easier to reach from Andheri and Dahisar than it used to be.
Two things here change our timings more than distance does. Film City keeps hours no office does, so a fair number of bookings in Goregaon start after midnight, when someone finishes a shoot and is back at a hotel with the night ahead. And when an exhibition is on at Nesco, every hotel from Goregaon East up to Malad fills and the service road crawls, so during those weeks we ask people to book earlier in the evening rather than on impulse.
Outcall is what we mostly do here — hotel rooms and service apartments on the Goregaon East side near Oberoi Mall and the exhibition grounds, and flats on the west in Motilal Nagar, Bangur Nagar or off Link Road. Crossing Goregaon east to west takes 15 to 20 minutes through the station bridge, longer once the market traffic on SV Road sets in. From Andheri it is 20 to 30 minutes, from Borivali about 25, and from Powai roughly half an hour through Aarey. One thing worth knowing about Aarey: the roads through the colony are dark, badly signed and confusing at night, so if your hotel is on that upper stretch towards Film City we send a girl round by the highway instead of the shortcut, and that costs a few extra minutes.
